Joe has more than 40 years of experience in the healthcare field and is a seasoned human resources executive. He has built his career on integrity, collaboration and innovation. He has effectively developed teams that have been recognized for state and national best practices in human resources and organizational development innovation. He has also successfully maintained positive employee relations.
Joe began his career at Iowa Methodist Medical Center where he held four positions and rose to the Director of Educational Services and remained for approximately 18 years. Afterward, Joe served as Manager of Compensation and Benefits for Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg, Florida. For the next 11 years, he acted as the Vice President of Human Resources at All Children’s Health System in St. Petersburg. Joe was then the corporate Vice President of Human Resources at University Community Health in Tampa from 2001 to 2006. Most recently, Joe was a member of the executive team as the Director of Human Resources at Mountain Vista Medical Center, a part of the IASIS Healthcare system, in Mesa, Arizona for six years.
Throughout his career, Joe has received several awards, was a key member of numerous preeminent human resources organizations, and has published a plethora of articles on healthcare human resources. He received the Distinguished Service Award from the American Society for Healthcare Human Resources Association (ASHHRA). He has served as President for prominent organizations across the country, including the Arizona Healthcare Human Resources Association, the Florida Society for Healthcare Human Resources Administration, the West Central Florida Healthcare Human Resources Association, the Iowa Healthcare Human Resources Association and ASHHRA.
Joe has a bachelor of arts degree from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. He is frequently invited as a keynote speaker to local, state, national and international events, primarily in the areas of motivational leadership and staff development.
