CARPLS Legal Aid (once known as Coordinated Advice & Referral Program for Legal Services) is the largest provider of free legal services in Cook County and has provided nearly one million consultations to low and moderate-income people in need.

Job Description:

The Director of Development will work in partnership with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to develop a multi-year revenue strategy to grow revenue through targeted special events, increasing the number of donors and developing relationships with major donors, corporations and foundations. The Director of Development will partner with lawyers, community leaders, corporations, foundations and donors to build enthusiasm about CARPLS. Cultivating, soliciting and stewarding donors and prospects, with the capacity to give five to six figure leadership level gifts within a focused portfolio, are key responsibilities of Director of Development.  The ideal candidate for this role will have the following qualifications:

  • Be an excellent communicator with high integrity, and a successful collaborative staff member;
  • Accountably manage fundraising operations, workflow and strategically make the most efficient use of resources;
  • Have a high level of discretion and respect for donor privacy; and
  • Understand best practices, current trends and future trends of fundraising.
