Founded in 1993, CommunityHealth is the nation's largest free clinic, serving Chicago and surrounding communities. It is the leader in delivering comprehensive, high-quality, patient-centered health care at no cost to low-income, uninsured adults in need of a medical home.
Through the contributions of committed donors, funders, volunteers and partners, CommunityHealth provides a wide range of services onsite at its West Town Clinic, which is open 6 days and 3 evenings per week, including primary, specialty (e.g. cardiology, gynecology, neurology), and dental care; preventive health screenings and vaccinations; and select diagnostic testing. CommunityHealth operates on an appointment-only basis and, whenever possible, patients see the same provider at every visit. CommunityHealth is committed to treating the "whole" person and to finding new approaches to meet the complex health needs of its patient population. Through an award- winning health education program and a growing social services department, the organization empowers patients to take ownership of their health and well-being. To be eligible for care, individuals must have no health insurance and establish that their income does not exceed 250% of the Federal Poverty Standard.
Reporting to the Chair of the Board of Directors, the CEO is the lead executive responsible for executing against a board-approved strategic plan, annual goals and objectives, as well as ensuring strong financial controls and oversight and high quality operations and services. He/She must organize functions and assemble a staff team to assist in, support and be accountable for this work. The CEO helps generate and oversee a $3M+ fundraising and operating budget as well as more than $19M in donated goods and services. He/She will have oversight of 40 staff as well as a 1600-member volunteer corps.
CommunityHealth relies on the powerful combination of philanthropy, donations of goods and services, volunteerism, partnerships with academic medical centers, residency programs and providers as well as passionate and committed board and staff champions to fulfill its mission to improve the health and well-being of the uninsured and the communities in which they live. CommuntyHealth's on-site services and programs include primary care; subspecialty care; pharmacy, dental, and mental health services; and health education.
