Chesapeake Regional Information System for our Patients (CRISP) and CRISP Shared Services (CSS)

Organization:

Founded in 2009 to function as Maryland's state-designated health information exchange (HIE), by the Mary- land Health Care Commission (MHCC), CRISP currently serves as the HIE for Maryland. Funded primarily through Maryland's rate-setting authority, the Health Services Cost Review Commission (HSCRC), Maryland Medicaid, and participation fees from hospital and payor participants, CRISP helps ensure that patients receive the best and most efficient care possible by providing healthcare professionals with key information, which will help them make quicker decisions and provide better treatments, resulting in more positive outcomes.

CSS is a non-profit support organization, with each member HIE participating in the governance. CSS's mission is to assist its member organizations, which includes CRISP, in achieving economies of scale, pooling innovation efforts, and implementing best practices. CSS enables and supports the local members' jurisdiction healthcare community to improve health outcomes for patients.

CRISP was created by Johns Hopkins Medicine, MedStar Health, the University of Maryland Medical System and Erickson Retirement Communities, and receives input from multiple sources, including clinicians, hospitals, pa- tients, privacy advocates, payers, regulators and policymakers. To that end, CRISP is advised by a wide range of stakeholders who are responsible for healthcare throughout their respective regions. CRISP is connected with all acute care hospitals in Maryland and DC.


Job Description:

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) has the distinct privilege and professional challenge of partnering with the Board of Directors and staff of both CRISP and CSS to steward and grow the mission and impact of both organizations. Reporting to the Boards of Directors of both entities, the CEO is the lead executive staff person responsible for executing the board-approved strategic plan, annual goals and objectives, as well as ensuring strong financial controls and oversight, and high-quality operations and services. The annual budget is $50 million. The CEO manages the senior team of seven employees and consultants, and fosters collaboration among CRISP and CSS member HIEs, while preserving and advocating for the mission, vision, and values of both CRISP and CSS at the local and national level.
