Norwegian American Hospital is a 200-bed acute care facility that has served the residents of the near northwest side of Chicago since 1894, and is now the fourth-leading provider of high-quality, charitable health care among 59 area hospitals. Reporting to the president and chief executive officer of the hospital, the chief medical officer is a strategic partner in enhancing physician alignment strategy, ensuring regular communication with the medical staff and providing oversight and counsel to the Medical Executive Committee and other medical staff elected officials. This individual serves as a physician and patient advocate, actively engaged in contributing clinical expertise to administrative functions as a member of the executive team. The CMO acts as a liaison between administration and the medical staff to build consensus and ensure that the organizational goals and strategic initiatives related to quality, clinical performance and outcomes, patient safety, clinical informatics, patient experience, physician and employee engagement, and process excellence are successfully implemented and maintained. This individual also plays an active role in developing the strategy and direction of the organization, always supporting, promoting, and preserving the mission and values of Norwegian American Hospital.
