Position: Senior Counsel, Health Plan Services
Location: Chicago, Illinois
Cook County Health (formerly the Cook County Health and Hospitals Systems), a comprehensive, integrated system of health care throughout Chicago and suburban Cook County. CCH is made up of two hospitals, a growing ambulatory and community health network, a public health department, a correctional healthcare facility (Cermack), and an outpatient infectious disease center (CORE Center); each of these system institutions is led by a chief operating officer, who has responsibility for day-to-day operations. CCH also partners with hospitals, healthcare centers, and community organizations to maximize services and increase patient convenience in city and suburban neighborhoods. Cook County Health is internationally recognized for its Emergency Medicine and Trauma services, known for advancing the frontiers of medicine, while remaining true to its mission, despite the economic challenges of providing care to those most in need.
Reporting to the general counsel, the senior counsel for health plan services provides day-to-day legal support with a substantial focus on contract drafting and negotiation of vendor contracts, provider arrangements, and plan regulatory addenda for Cook County Health (CCH). This individual participates in oversight and governance meetings as requested by Health Plan Services leadership; additionally, the senior counsel offers advice and guidance to the CCH Board of Directors, the chief executive officer, executive and medical leadership, and CCH managers on legal issues arising in the operation of Health Plan Services and its various service lines, and CCH managed care initiatives.
