With a membership of more than 40,000 medical practice leaders, the MGMA is known for empowering its members and the community by offering cutting-edge resources and solutions that include, but are not limited to: expertly compiled benchmarking data and statistics; consulting and advisory services; educational collateral and certifications; networking events and annual conferences; etc. Thoughtfully organized into four verticals (i.e., Association (and Government Affairs); Operations; Business Intelligence; and Industry Insights), the MGMA's structure was design to facilitate business accountability, audience reach and impact, data-driven decision making, and top performance outcomes.

Job Description:

A key member of the MGMA's Executive Leadership Team, the Vice President of Marketing is the senior-most executive responsible for leading the organization's marketing function and the actions therein to advance the MGMA's mission and advocacy efforts, enhance member and customer experience, increase brand awareness, and achieve its strategic goals and performance objectives. Reporting directly to the CFO, the vice president maintains operational, budgetary, and strategic oversight of the department, and is accountable for the development and deployment of all marketing-related initiatives. Serving as a strategic business partner to the leadership of MGMA's four verticals, the vice president works closely with his/her counterparts to develop thoughtful marketing approaches unique to each division's needs. To ensure the effectiveness and success of these efforts, the VP must rely on and routinely utilize analytics to make well-informed assessments and data-supported action plans. Marketing is currently supported by multiple team members (i.e., marketing managers, coordinators, and specialists; a senior manager of design with a team of three graphic designers; a senior manager and manager of digital experience; manager of marketing automation; and a senior manager of social media).


  • Minimum of 10-15 years of marketing experience in a complex business environment
  • Minimum of 5 years in a senior strategic role with team member oversight
  • Education: MBA or related discipline required
  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in the following areas:
    • digital and print marketing and optimization strategies
    • strategy development and planning
    • data analytics
    • branding
    • marketing communications management
    • marketing automation and lead generation
    • creative design
    • production
    • segmentation
    • customer relationship management (CRM)
    • marketing research
  • Demonstrated proficiency in budget development and management
  • Familiarity with the healthcare industry is desirable
