Guided by its mission to improve the health of the people in the communities it serves, St. Luke's Health System is transforming health care in Idaho and regionally through its strategy of value-based care. It is the state's largest employer, with eight hospitals serving four states, more than 15,000 employees, and a medical staff of more than 1,800 employed providers, and St Luke's Health Partners – a clinically integrated network with more than 2600 providers. St. Luke's enjoys an outstanding reputation as both a quality employer and a superior healthcare organization; it has been named one of the "Top 15 Health Systems in the U.S." for seven consecutive years by IBM Watson Health and recently achieved its fifth Magnet designation in a row, one of less than 25 health systems in the United States to do so. St. Luke's Boise and Meridian are also the top hospitals in Idaho with regard to CMS star ratings, and are the only Idaho hospitals to receive the full five stars. The health system is accredited by The Joint Commission and holds Commission on Cancer accreditation at Treasure Valley and Magic Valley, as well as full Cycle IV Chest Pain Center Accreditation with PCI for St. Luke's Boise and Meridian Medical Centers. In addition, two of the system's imaging centers have been designated Breast Imaging Centers of Excellence by the American College of Radiology; St. Luke's Boise and Meridian have earned "Top 50 Cardiovascular Hospital" recognition for 12 years from Watson (Truven) Health; and St. Luke's Cancer Institute achieved Certification for High Quality Cancer Care from the Quality Oncology Practice Initiative program.
Known as the "City of Trees," Boise is Idaho's capital city—both a cultural center and a playground for those who love the outdoors. Boise is located on the Boise river in southwestern Idaho. A vibrant downtown area affords fine dining, theatre, music, college and semi-professional sports. Downtown Boise's main attractions include the Idaho State Capitol, the classic Egyptian Theatre, the Boise Art Museum, Julia Davis Park and Zoo Boise. The Greenbelt follows the beautiful Boise River corridor for more than 30 miles, and the Boise foothills are home to miles of hiking, biking, and skiing. Boise is consistently rated as one of the top cities in the United States. Idaho was the fastest-growing state in the country, by 2.1%. The state's Department of Labor also predicts that the population will keep growing in Idaho at an average rate of 1.1% per year until 2026, when it will reach a total of 1.88 million people.
