Anna Chiotti was placed as the regional chief executive officer for the West Hawaii Region of Hawaii Health Systems Corporation (HHSC), with oversight of Kona Community Hospital and Kohala Hospital, as well as Kona Ambulatory Surgery Center and Ali'i Health Center, a 23-provider multispecialty clinic. Kona Community Hospital, a 94-bed, full-service, acute care hospital, has served the West Hawaii community for over 100 years. A private, public benefit healthcare facility accredited by the Joint Commission, it is the recipient of the Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce Pualu Business Innovation Award as the "Best Hospital in West Hawaii." The 28-bed Kohala Hospital includes six critical access beds and 22 long-term care beds. In her role, Anna will provide vision, leadership, direction, and administration for these two hospitals, managing their daily operations and carrying out their mission as she guides planning, human resources management, healthcare quality, resource allocation, compliance, advocacy, and promotion.
Anna was most recently engaged in independent consulting, with assignments that encompassed transitional CNO roles, C-suite transformations and team-building, financial education for nurses, service line development, Lean principles, quality and process improvement, and Magnet designation and recertification. Prior to this work, Anna served as the chief nursing officer of the 350-bed Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Los Angeles, also taking on chief operating officer duties. She was hired as a change agent and was successful in addressing patient safety issues, achieving Magnet recertification, implementing Lean principles, and developing new clinics and service lines.
Previously, Anna served as the chief nursing officer and chief operating officer of San Ramon Regional Medical Center in San Ramon, California; as the associate vice president of nursing for four campuses of California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco; as the chief of quality, patient safety officer, and chief compliance officer for Kaiser Permanente in Santa Clara; as the director of medical/surgical nursing for St. Rose Hospital in Hayward; and as the chief nursing officer for Delta Hospital in Delta, Colorado. Anna has also held prior roles in consulting, serving as the vice president of nursing for O'Rourke Consulting and as the chief executive officer of Medical Legal Consultants. Her experience in academia has included serving as the assistant director of nursing for Ohlone College in Fremont, California, and as adjunct nursing faculty at her alma mater, St. Mary's College/ Samuel Merritt College in Oakland. Anna began her career as an ED nurse at Samuel Merritt Medical Center.
Anna holds both a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in nursing from St. Mary's College/Samuel Merritt College and is Certified in Executive Nursing Practice (CENP) by AONE. Outside of work, Anna enjoys spending time on the water and hiking, as well as training seeing eye dogs for the blind. She is the mother of two grown children.
