Bradley Reach, CPA, was placed as the chief financial officer of Illinois Valley Community Hospital in Peru, Illinois. Illinois Valley serves a population of approximately 153,200 through its 49-bed acute care medical center, hospice services, adult day care center, and durable medical equipment company. It is an independent community hospital that is the majority owner and manager of the Illinois Valley PHO and a member of the Illinois Rural Community Care Organization, a primary care-based ACO. In his position, Brad provides financial leadership as part of the executive leadership team, ensuring that the organization’s mission is advanced, that its strategy is financially viable, that the appropriate financial infrastructure is in place to respond to the evolving healthcare industry, and that operations are appropriately financially managed and controlled. He is also responsible for directing the supply chain and the operations of the IVCH Foundation.
Brad brings to the position experience in all areas of finance and accounting, with skill in long-range projections, operating budgets, and cost containment initiatives. He is highly focused and results-oriented in supporting deadline-driven operations, and able to liaise effectively with members of management in regards to the financial operations of an organization.
Before joining Illinois Valley, Brad served as a senior financial analyst at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois. OSF Saint Francis is the fourth largest medical center in the state of Illinois, with a medical staff of more than 850 physicians, 6,500 employees, and 616 patient beds, and net revenue of over $1 million. OSF Saint Francis is the area’s only Level I trauma center and tertiary care medical center, and is also home to the Children’s Hospital of Illinois, OSF Saint Francis Heart Hospital, and the Illinois Neurological Institute. There, Brad was responsible for driving the long-range projection and operating budget processes in order to meet corporate deadlines and financial targets, and worked closely with physicians and management to drive standardization and process changes across clinical areas to improve efficiency and reduce costs. Brad worked with the CNO on staffing projects that resulted in $2.8 million in annual cost savings; played an integral role in housekeeping reducing its annual overtime costs by $400,000; was a key member of several clinical teams that focused on processes to reduce length of stay and average cost per patient; and initiated monthly tracking to ensure that the organization was staffing nurses to the appropriate matrices and to volume.
Previously, Brad served at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion, Illinois as the assistant chief financial officer and as a financial analyst; with Dycus, Bradley & Draves in Marion as a senior accountant; and with Anders Minkler & Diehl LLP in St. Louis, Missouri as an audit associate. He began his career as a staff accountant with Kerber, Eck & Braeckel LLP in Springfield, Illinois.
Brad is originally from Marion, Illinois. He completed both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting at Arkansas State University, and his MHA at Louisiana State University. Brad and his wife are the parents of two young daughters. Outside of work, Brad enjoys spending time with his family and running competitively.
