Mark Kaiser was placed as the head of business development at MATTER, a Chicago-based business incubator uniquely designed to address and transform major challenges and opportunities in health care. MATTER connects and promotes collaboration between entrepreneurs, scientists, physicians, investors, and industry partners to bring next-generation products and services to market that improve quality of care and save lives. The company has been recognized nationally for providing education, mentoring, and the training tools necessary to develop healthcare IT, biopharmaceuticals, and medical device technologies, and for convening cross-sector forums of industry leaders and entrepreneurs to collaborate on building new solutions. In his position, Mark establishes strategic, mutually beneficial relationships with progressive-thinking healthcare industry leaders and hospital systems seeking to enhance their own innovation capabilities in order to better serve their patient populations. He is charged with working to build the organization’s visibility, impact, and financial resources.
Mark brings to the position experience in growing underperforming territories, exceeding goals and expectations in new revenue generation. He has developed and executed successful business development plans that have led to increased revenues and new clients for medical device company employers. His strengths include prospecting new sales targets, lead generation, and the development of strong customer relationships. He is skilled at both business development strategy and collaboration with decision-making stakeholders.
Before joining MATTER, Mark served as a senior spine specialist with Globus Medical. With customers including spinal surgeons, OR department heads, and senior procurement leadership within hospitals and health systems, Mark was engaged in sales and relationship development through identifying valuable product and service solutions. He successfully grew revenue by $500,000 during the first year of his tenure, and returned a territory with previously declining revenue of over $1 million year-over-year to steady growth within six months. Mark also led a sales team transition/rebuild for the Chicago market, and developed and conducted a pilot program for the mentorship of new sales representatives.
Previously, Mark served as a territory manager for Depuy Synthes Spine in Massachusetts, for Wright Medical Technology in Tennessee, and for Arthrex in Florida. He began his career as a B2B sales representative for Rotech Oxygen and Medical Equipment and for Worldwide Express.
Mark completed his bachelor’s degree in business administration at University of Missouri-Columbia. His involvement in the community has included Big Brothers Big Sisters, Rotary International, and fundraising for charities such as the United Way.
QLK’s Patricia “Patti” Hall led the search to recruit Mark to MATTER, where he has been in place since August 29, 2016.
