Paroma Mukherjee was placed as director of development at CARPLS Legal Aid in Chicago, the largest provider of free legal services in Cook County, providing more than 60,000 legal consultations and engaging in approximately 28,000 cases annually for low- and moderate-income people in need. In this role, Paroma created and implemented successful fundraising processes and strategies that positioned the organization for long-term growth, identifying opportunities to accelerate fundraising through new campaigns, the recruitment of new board members, the growth of government and private foundation grants, and the implementation of business partnerships and social media strategies.
Previously, Paroma served as a major gifts officer with the United Way of Metropolitan Chicago, as a branch manager and fundraising head for Concern India Foundation in India, as a grants manager for the United Way of Southeastern Michigan and a grants specialist for Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan, as the public health education director for the International Association for Organ Donation, as a legislative specialist with the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, and as a project coordinator for the University of Texas at San Antonio. She holds a master’s degree in public policy and administration from Purdue University.
Originally from India, Paroma enjoys traveling and gardening in her spare time; she is also active in professional and community activities. Paroma and her husband are the parents of two teenaged daughters.
QLK’s Steve Derks and Shay Owens led the search to recruit Paroma to CARPLS, where her duties will begin in March 2023.
