Anna Neece was placed as the vice president of perioperative services at Centra Health, a regional nonprofit healthcare system based in Lynchburg, Virginia, that is comprised of four hospitals with 730 total beds. With more than 8,500 employees, 400 employed providers and physicians, and a medical staff of nearly 800, Centra serves over 500,000 people across 8,000 square miles in central and southern Virginia, providing care in 70 locations. In her role, Anna will provide leadership, direction, and oversight for all perioperative services across the health system, including the operating rooms and peri-anesthesia, pre-anesthesia testing, and sterile processing departments. Working closely with senior leadership to meet the goals and objectives of the health system, Anna will be responsible for ensuring quality, access, and value across all Centra Health surgical sites.
Anna comes to Centra from HCA’s Johnston-Willis Hospital in Richmond, Virginia, where she served as director of surgical services. While in that role, Anna led the expansion of the Central Sterile Department, the OR, and the daVinci robot program, increasing both productivity and volume, and achieved improvements in both patient satisfaction and employee satisfaction. Her efforts led to the hospital’s recognition by HCA as a top 20% OR, and she was selected to serve as the surgical services director advisor for the 17-hosiptal Capital Division of the health system.
Anna had an 18-year career with HCA’s Chippenham and Johnston-Willis Hospitals, serving as director of the intensive care and intermediate care units, manager of the post-anesthesia care unit, and assistant director of surgical services. Prior to joining HCA, she worked as an RN with the Virginia Department of Corrections and with Southside Regional Medical Center in Petersburg, Virginia.
Anna holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Old Dominion University, and a master’s degree in nursing administration from Liberty University. She is a Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse and Certified Surgical Services Manager, and is active with the Virginia Nurses Association, the American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nurses, and the Association of Operating Room Nurses.
Originally from Richmond, Virginia, Anna is the mother of two grown children and the grandmother of one young granddaughter. Outside of work, she and her husband particularly enjoy camping and boating.
Quick Leonard Kieffer’s Jake Barto and Nancy DeMoss led the search to recruit Anna to Centra Health, where her duties will begin on May 24, 2021.
