Jeffrey Foreman, RPh, was placed as the president of Smith Drug Company in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Smith Drug is the sixth-largest wholesaler in the United States, as well as the third-largest privately-owned wholesaler in the nation, with distribution centers in Spartanburg; Paragould, Arkansas; and Valdosta, Georgia. With annual revenue of approximately $2.4 billion, the company serves 1,500 pharmacies in 21 states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Jeff brings to the position career experience with independent, franchised, regional, mass, and national pharmacy chains, as well as experience in wholesale drug distribution and pharmaceutical sales, with the leadership skills to effectively navigate the changing landscape of health care.
Before joining Smith Drug, Jeff served as a divisional vice president for brand and generic pharmaceutical purchasing with the Walgreens Company. In this capacity, he solidified a historic ten-year custom commercial distribution deal with AmerisourceBergen, and played a role in two additional deals with ABC that included equity ownership in the organization and a generic pricing deal; this relationship allowed Walgreens to reduce working capital needs and improve margins. Jeff also served as Walgreens' purchasing liaison for Walgreens Boots Alliance Development in Switzerland. He led a team of 20 employees that accomplished $40 billion in pharmaceutical purchasing; in 2014, on the buy side alone, his division over-performed on its projected plan by $250 million.
Previously, Jeff served as the vice president for strategic purchasing, marketing, and business development with Cardinal Health; as the vice president of pharmacy solutions for Medicine Shoppe International; and in a number of retail pharmacy management roles. He began his career as a community pharmacist in Michigan.
Jeff is originally from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and earned his bachelor's degree in pharmacy from Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan.
