Jeffrey Methven was placed as chief executive officer of St. Mary’s Healthcare in Amsterdam, New York, which encompasses a 143-bed hospital, 160-bed nursing home, and 10-bed acute rehabilitation unit, and provides accessible health care through seven offsite primary care centers and behavioral health service locations throughout two counties. Served by 1,600 clinical staff and employees, St. Mary’s is dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in health care for its entire community, and participates in several initiatives that help embed this dedication into every aspect of its service to others. In his role, Jeffrey will provide leadership and oversight to all entities of the health system, with the distinct privilege and professional challenge of partnering with the board, physicians, clinicians, and community stakeholders to steward St. Mary’s mission. Jeffrey will serve as the lead executive staff person responsible for executing the health system’s strategic plan and annual goals and objectives, as well as for ensuring strong financial controls and oversight, and high-quality operations and services.
Jeffrey comes to St. Mary’s from Saratoga Hospital in Saratoga Springs, New York, where he most recently served as executive vice president for operations. In this capacity, he bridged medical and nursing staff with operations, facilitated better alignment and transparency across the institution, drove organizational growth strategies, and implemented a primary care redesign strategy that resulted in improved access and efficiency, increased revenue, improved quality, and enhanced provider engagement.
Previously, Jeffrey served as vice president of ambulatory services and chief human resources officer at Saratoga Hospital, and as director of human resources at Strong Health Highland Hospital and Corning Hospital, both in New York. He began his career at Corning Hospital as an employee relations assistant.
Originally from Syracuse, New York, Jeffrey holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial relations from Le Moyne College, and an MBA from University of Rochester. He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the Healthcare Financial Management Association, the Medical Group Management Association, and the Society for Human Resource Management.
Jeffrey and his wife are the parents of three children, and the family enjoys hiking in the mountains together. Jeffrey also enjoys running marathons, landscaping, and engaging in community voluntarism in his free time.
QLK’s Roger Quick, Mike Quick, and Shay Owens led the search to recruit Jeffrey to St. Mary’s, where his duties will begin on January 30, 2023.
