Nebraska Health Information Initiative (NeHII)

Lorraine (Lori) Egger was placed as the inaugural chief administrative officer of the Nebraska Health Information Initiative (NeHII) in La Vista, Nebraska, a 501(c)3 non-profit health information exchange organization that joins healthcare providers, payers, and the State of Nebraska. Designated as the statewide integrator by the governor, NeHII works with the eHealth Council and the state HIT coordinator to facilitate Health Information Exchange initiatives throughout the state in order to improve patient outcomes and reduce healthcare costs. During the course of its existence, NeHII has connected more than 3.5 million patients, providers, and institutions; connected 70% of acute care in Nebraska; and provisioned access and provided training to over 10,000 clinicians. NeHII is certified as a Qualified Clinical Data Registry and as a Qualified Entity, and is the first HIE in the nation to pursue NCQA certification and achieve HEDIS measure certification.

In her role, Lori is responsible for managing all aspects of finance, legal, risk management, compliance, privacy, contract and grant administration, and human resources for NeHII. As a member of the senior executive team, she collaborates with the chief executive officer, board members, peers, and stakeholders regarding strategic and financial planning for the organization’s shared services. She is responsible for establishing and sustaining a culture of skilled communication, true collaboration, effective decision-making, appropriate staffing, meaningful recognition, authentic leadership, transparency, professionalism, accountability, excellence, and innovation.

Lori comes to NeHII from KPMG in Omaha, where she had a successful tenure of over 17 years, progressing from manager to senior manager to managing director in the tax practice; in these capacities, she worked with hospitals, clinics, universities and colleges, private foundations, and public charities. Lori began her career with the tax practice of Arthur Andersen in Omaha as an associate, senior associate, and then manager.

Lori holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Nebraska and is a Certified Public Accountant. She is a frequent speaker on exempt organization tax matters at industry forums, conferences, and associated meetings, and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Nebraska Society of CPAs, and the Healthcare Financial Management Association.
