Atrium Health

Major (Shawn) Anderson was placed as the vice president of talent acquisition for the greater Charlotte region of Atrium Health (formerly Carolinas HealthCare System) in Charlotte, North Carolina. One of the nation’s most comprehensive public, not-for-profit health systems, Atrium encompasses 40 hospitals and more than 1,400 care locations. The health system is served by more than 70,000 teammates, more than 3,705 physicians, and more than 17,000 nurses, and is continually recognized both locally and nationally for its commitment to delivering efficient, quality care, earning distinctions from many top accrediting and ranking organizations, including recognition as a “Best Children’s Hospital” and “Best Nursing Home,” a “Health Care’s Most Wired” organization, and a “Best Employer.” In his role, Shawn will design, implement, and lead clinical and non-clinical talent acquisition programs and practices that are driven by Atrium’s mission, vision, values, and long-term business strategy, and that allow the health system to attract, engage, evaluate, and hire the exceptional talent needed to advance into the future.

Shawn comes to Atrium from Ochsner Health System in New Orleans, Louisiana’s largest non-profit, academic healthcare system, where he spent six years quickly progressing through increasingly responsible roles in talent acquisition, from senior recruiter to assistant vice president of talent acquisition. In his terminal role, Shawn notably improved engagement scores; launched an in-house nursing and respiratory therapy agency in response to the COVID-19 pandemic; optimized talent acquisition systems, reporting, and dashboards; strengthened diversity recruitment and hiring strategies; and reduced time-to-start by improving the pre-boarding process.

Previously, Shawn served as the talent acquisition manager for executive search at Vanderbilt University Medical Center; as a senior recruiter with Robert Half Technology; as a market recruiter and branch manager for TrueBlue; and as an education training coordinator for NACE International, a not-for-profit professional organization for the corrosion control industry.

Originally from Mississippi, Shawn holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and an MBA with a concentration in healthcare administration, both from Belhaven University in Jackson.

QLK’s Jake Barto and Jamie Cassedy led the search to recruit Shawn to Atrium, where his duties will begin on November 29, 2021.
